At this time of year, Up and Above Contractors is grateful to be able to use our business to serve the community in other ways, including involvement with our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Recently we donated 12 new and five sample windows to be used for future Habitat projects that will help families in need of decent shelter right here in our area. We believe that when everyone works together we can continue to change the world, one family at a time!
How it Works
Sussex County Habitat for Humanity builds decent and affordable houses which are then sold to eligible families. The organization also does occasional rehabilitation work for families and organizations in need. Many of the construction materials are donated or purchased at a deep discount, enabling Habitat to keep costs low. There is no profit added to the sales price of a home, and no interest charged on the mortgage. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity into building their own homes and the homes of others, and their monthly mortgage payments are used to construct additional Habitat houses.
About Sussex County HFH
Sussex County Habitat for Humanity was established in 1993 by a small group of people concerned with the need for decent, affordable housing in Sussex County, New Jersey. It is a non-profit Christian organization and affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The ministry was founded on the belief that safe and decent shelter from the elements is a basic human need.
